M.K. Ducote is a graduate of the University of Florida (B.S. in Business Finance, B.A. in Classics and Minor in Art History), the University of Florida Levin College of Law (J.D.), and the University of Miami Law School (LL.M.). M.K. is a member of the Florida Bar, and the author of a series of fiction novels chronicling life, love, and lawsuits on the Le Mans racing circuit due to be released in 2013.
During her undergraduate career at the University of Florida, M.K. interned with Sotheby’s Auction House in New York, NY, and Melbourne, Australia, where she participated in the largest sale of Aboriginal Art in the world. M.K. also studied creative writing, concert cello, international business, and art history while abroad, spending semesters in Melbourne, Australia, Tokyo, Japan (where she published several works of fiction), Paris, France, and Cape Town, South Africa, and also took part in a justice reform conference in Lima, Peru. While studying human rights and international law at the University of Cape Town, M.K. also developed her skills as a model and actress, showcasing her skills for several European commercials.
M.K. Ducote graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. M.K. was further honored by being named both the Commencement Speaker at her 2005 graduation ceremony, as well as an Outstanding Four-Year Scholar for her academic accomplishments, service to the University and the community, and involvement in various extracurricular activities, which included two years as the Public Relations Director of the Office of Community Service and a Director of the Women’s Leadership Counsel.
Upon graduating with her second law degree in 2009, M.K. joined the law firm of Snyder & Snyder, PA as an Associate Attorney, focusing her practice on estate planning and tax matters, and quickly became involved in the South Florida business community. M.K. served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, Southeast Florida Chapter, in 2009 and 2010, as well as the Steering Committee of both the 8th and 9th Annual Joint Tax and Estate Planning Seminar held at Nova Southeastern University, and was personally responsible for securing the platinum (highest level) sponsor for the 9th Annual event. During this time, M.K. was also a member of the Public Art and Design Committee of Broward County’s 2020 Community Cultural Plan Task Force and a member of the Broward County Emerging Cultural Leaders Program.
Currently, M.K. Ducote lives in Miami Beach, Florida, with her newly wed husband, Chapman Ducote. Chapman is a professional racecar driver in the American and International Le Mans Series, in addition to being the President and CEO of Merchant Services LTD, a full scale, vertically integrated credit card processing company. M.K. now works with her husband as the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) of Merchant Services LTD, and is in the process of publishing the first book in her action-packed fiction novel series, loosely based on her husband’s racing career and chronicling life, love, and lawsuits on the Le Mans racing circuit. M.K. is also currently a brand ambassador for the fabulous creations of Levinson’s Jewelers located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In her free time, M.K. enjoys playing the cello, kickboxing, cycling in Aspen, horseback riding, free diving in the Bahamas, racing karts, and reading, but her true passion is writing. M.K. is also training for an Olympic distance triathlon.
